IMPORTANT: CHANGES TO PMNC TEAM ACCEPTANCE PROCESS

6/11/2019

This year has seen our biggest grading day ever with over 150 individuals trialling across 3 age groups. As I’m sure you can appreciate it’s been a tough job to put everyone into suitable teams.
Our goal to provide players with options for high performance netball as well as community/social netball adds a whole other level of complexity.  In order to achieve these goals and manage teams effectively, PMNC is trialling a different approach to team organisation for the 2020 year.
All players in our high division teams will be made a first round offer of a position within a team, which has been deemed suitable to their skills, age and club’s need for players.  While this first round offer may suit some players it may not suit all.  Alternate offers will be made where a player does not accept a first round offer.
All offers will need to be accepted by the prescribed date in order for that position to be guaranteed for next year.  Positions not accepted by the due date will be considered vacant.
If rejecting an offer you will need to indicate if you would like the club to make a subsequent offer.  Second and subsequent round offers will be made based on vacancies.  They will take into consideration personal requirements and friendship requests as much as possible, while still ensuring the right skill level for each team.  This may mean that some players choose to play in a division with a skill standard below what they were graded at. Players are unlikely to be offered a spot in a team where the skill level is considered higher than what they were graded at.
Offers to players for lower division teams will be made once our higher division teams are finalised so that all vacancies can be filled appropriately.
We do understand that things change, and players will not be penalised from withdrawing from teams after an acceptance.  However, I do encourage players and parents to commit to their choices once made, as other acceptances may have be been made based on the published team composition.  As a club, we in turn, commit to limiting changes to your accepted team, coach and training day as much as possible.
I would like to encourage our players to rise to the challenge of achieving their best, to be brave, try new things and be open to change.  Making new friends and having great experiences through netball is possible regardless of which team placement is offered.
Please feel free to reach out in case of any questions. Please also see our recently upgraded general policies for more information. Section 5 specifically relates to grading.
Thanks
